Why do you offer an iPhone as part of the onboarding package?

We consider that having a phone is an essential part of being able to do your job, specially when our product is an app. This is not to have you on call 24/7, in fact, we are only giving you the phone, no number nor data plan. This is simply yet another piece of equipment for your day to day work.

If we are all working remotely from different places, how do bank holidays work?

There are not only different bank holidays depending on the country you live in, but also in the region, province or even city you are living. This is why we have decided that everyone follows the official holiday calendar of the city they are currently living in.

This will help improve work-life balance as you have the same holidays as the people and businesses around you.

How do local festivities work?

Since we are working from multiple locations, we have decided that each employee should adhere to the bank holiday schedule of their current location.

National festivities applies to everyone in the same country and are automatically registered in our HR system.

Local and regional festivities, which depends on which part of the country you live in, since is not feasible to have them all in the system, each employee is responsible for requesting them. The employee must of type "Local festivity" for the local festivities and “Regional festivity” for the regional festivities that applies to her/him. These will not subtract from the overall leave entitlement.

You can learn more about the leave policy in our Spanish leave policy page.

Do you have a particular training budget/plan?

At this moment we don't have a specific training policy, but this doesn't mean there are no training opportunities. We believe that constant self-improvement is key for innovation and a win-win for both the employee and the company.

We are very flexible in this regard and, together with your manager, we will identify ad-hoc training opportunities for you (books, online courses, conferences, etc), independently of having a specific policy or not.

Do you have a career path?

We are working on it. We understand that having a clearer career plan is important in terms of expectations. We are creating a career path that provides that predictability but that is still open ended enough to adapt to each particular individual.

How do you know how much time I've been working?

We don't track your every movement or every minute you are in front of your computer. The best measure of your commitment is the result of your work. If you are not doing as much as you should be doing, that will quickly show in the quality of your work and it will also impact your team.

When you join Orbit, you start with 100% trust from us, and will remain like so unless you prove otherwise (at which point we might even consider if we should keep working together). We don't hire people we don't trust or need to control. We treat everyone as what we are: adults.

What are the office hours?

We have a flexible schedule. You know yourself better and every person has different obligations and needs on their personal life, so we don't have a specific schedule defined for office hours as long as you get the job done. Your contract will state an amount of time per week, but you can choose the best schedule for your needs.

The only thing we ask for, is that you are available for the team when needed (team meetings, important commitments, mentoring, etc) and that you overlap a few of your working hours with everyone else on a daily basis. If you don't know what is best for you yet, 9-17 is a good place to start while you figure it out.

Again, you have our full trust, so you don't need to ask for permission to go to the bank or a doctor's appointment.

How do you communicate with each other? In which language?
